Young women are writing history in places where they were once told were not open to them. In patriarchal systems, Sylvie is restoring long lost spiritual heritages, reviving severed connections inspiring communities to reclaim their lost identities. In March of 2024, Sylvie became the first to lead successful restitutions in colonial context from Germany and The Netherlands to Cameroon, a initiative that saw the return of more spiritual heritages looted in colonial context more than 120 years ago. In a huge reception ceremony, the people of Lebang through their King honoured Sylvie with the title Mafua: Queen and Bearer of good news, a title meant for a few who have ‘gone out, seen, conquered and returned to the people with great news’.
